Canadian Trash Update
The number of Canadian trucks bringing trash into Michigan has more
than doubled in the last year, Democratic members of Congress said Monday.
Michigan now gets and average of 415 truckloads of trash per day from
Canada, including 380 at the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron, and 35 at the
Ambassador bridge in Detroit. That's up from an average of 180 per day in
2003, according to Democratic Senators Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow, and
U.S. Rep John Dingell. The new numbers come from a survey conducted by the
Department of Homeland Security, the lawmakers said.
