TAX INCREMENT FINANCE AUTHORITY (TIFA)
As a means to enhance economic growth In local communities, the state
legislature enacted the Tax Increment Financing Act in 1980. This act enables a
local government unit to establish a Tax Increment Financing Authority (TIFA)
consisting of seven local residents appointed by the City Council. TIFA is
responsible for the allocation of funds for public improvements within the
defined TIFA district. These public improvements are generally Outlined within a
proposed development plan, and may include sidewalk repair or replacement,
street lighting, street Improvements, landscape improvements, and building
signage. TIFA Meets the fourth Monday of every month at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall.
