The Richmond Community Theatre is pleased to announce their 2006-2007 opening production of “DAMN YANKEES,” a musical by Richard Adler & Jerry Ross, book by George Abbott & Douglass Wallop (and based on the novel by Douglass Wallop "The Year The Yankees Lost The Pennant").

“Damn Yankees” is a long-time favorite for those who love musicals. This modern retelling of the Faust legend is the story of a middle-aged fan of the Washington Senators baseball club who sells his soul to the Devil to enable the Senators to win the American League pennant.

Director, Don Bischoff (of Macomb), has put together a talented selection of local seasoned actors, featuring Matthew Thorpe of Chesterfield (Joe Hardy), Jason Applegate of Port Huron (Mr. Applegate), Danielle Caralis of Grosse Pointe Shores (Lola), Alison Boggs of Oakland (Meg Boyd), Megan Breen of Chesterfield (Gloria Thorpe), and Tom Woodman of Richmond (Welch).

Like the shows main character, Joe Boyd, Director Don Bischoff considers himself a baseball fanatic. “My summer nights are filled with the sounds of STRIKE THREE or YOU'RE OUT and of course PLAY BALL. I don't seem to make it down to the ball park as much after having children, but when I do it a special feeling to me. I have memory's of my late father and grandfather taking me down to old Tiger Stadium for a Sunday double header. I miss the voice of good old Ernie Harwell and his partner Paul Carey at my bedside as I fall asleep. Baseball to me is yesterday, today, and tomorrow all rolled into one, because I consider myself a true fan.”

This production will be held at the historical Richmond Center for the Performing Arts located at 69619 Parker Street at Churchill Street, 4 blocks North of 32 Mile Road in Richmond. Ticket prices are $17 each ($15 Students/Seniors) and can be ordered by calling (586) 727-9518. RCT accepts Visa and Mastercard payments.
