OPEN AUDITIONS! “DAMN YANKEES”, July 10-11, 2006 from 7 -9 pm
The Richmond Community Theatre will be holding OPEN AUDITIONS for their
theatrical production of "DAMN YANKEES", a musical by Richard Adler and
Jerry Ross, book by George Abbott and Douglass Wallop (and based on the
novel by Douglass Wallop "The Year The Yankees Lost The Pennant").
Auditions are Monday, July 10th and Tuesday, July 11th from 7 - 9 p.m. at
the historical Richmond Center for the Performing Arts located at 69619
Parker Street at Churchill Street, 4 blocks North of 32 Mile Road in
Richmond.
This modern retelling of the Faust legend is the story of a middle-aged fan
of the Washington Senators baseball club who sells his soul to the Devil to
enable the Senators to win the American League pennant.
Depending on which character you will be auditioning for, Director Don
Bischoff would like characters to prepare the following for auditions:
Joe Boyd (45-60)-Middle aged man who later is called Joe Hardy: Audition
song Goodbye, old girl.
Joe Hardy (18-30) – Younger, studly version of Joe Boyd: Audition song: A
Man Doesn’t Know
Meg Boyd (40-50) -Wife of Joe Boyd Audition song: Six Months Out Of Every
Year.
Mr. Applegate or The Devil (30-60) Audition song: Those Were The Good Old
Days.
Van Buren (40-60) Manager of the Washington Senators. Audition song: (You
Gotta Have) Heart.
Lola (18-40) - Sexy side-kick to the Devil. Audition song: Whatever Lola
Wants.
Gloria Thorpe (25-50) Reporter. Audition song: Shoeless Joe from Hannibal,
MO.
CHORUS AUDITIONS: Chorus will include 7 to 10 Men who will double in several
parts ages form (15-50); 5 to 8 Female roles; 2-3 young boy and girls
(10-13). Chorus Audition song: (You Gotta Have) Heart.
Auditions will also consists of readings from the script, and some
choreography. Please wear comfortable clothes.
Performance dates are Sept. 8th-10th and 15th-17th , 2006. Performances are
at 8:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. matinees on Sundays. If
