“On Golden Pond” is the love story of Norman and Ethel Thayer (played
by real-life husband and wife, Kirk and Lucia Marshall of Richmond),
who are returning to their summer home on Golden Pond for the 44th
year. Norman is a retired professor, nearing 80, with heart
palpitations and a failing memory — but still as tart-tongued,
observant and eager for life as ever. They are visited by Chelsea,
their middle-aged daughter, and her dentist fiancé (also played by
real-life husband and wife, Katie and Duane Yoder of St. Clair Twp.).
Norman and Ethel quickly become attached to her fiancés son (Jordan
Cooper of St. ! Clair) and he becomes the "grandchild" the elderly
couple longed for. The story also includes visits by Chelsea’s
childhood boyfriend, now Golden Pond’s mailman (Sal Rubino of Shelby
Twp.). As the summer wanes, Norman and Ethel realize that time is
against them, but the years have been good and, perhaps, another
summer on Golden Pond still awaits them.
Director, Don Cilluffo (of Harrison Twp.), has put together an
extremely talented cast to rival the movie-version of the 1980’s that
starred Henry and Jane Fonda, as well as Katherine Hepburn. Please
join them as they bring this well known, heart-warming story to life.
This production will be held at the historical Richmond Center for the
Performing Arts located at 69619 Parker Street at Churchill Street, 4
blocks North of 32 Mile Road in Richmond. Reserved seating ticket
prices are $10 ($8 for Students and Seniors) and can be ordered by
calling (586) 727-9518. RCT accepts Visa and Mastercard payments.
