CROCKETT’S—OUR MEETING is located at 8826 Gratiot in Columbus Township north of Richmond. The buffalo burgers have been a big hit. Their menu and specials have been good. Hope that you will join us there soon.

ENTERTAINMENT BOOKS Our current fundraiser is selling entertainment books. They are $30 each. Jason has them at Verlinde Insurance. Please give him all funds and make sure that you do not give books to anyone else. All trades will take place in Jason’s office for better inventory control.

SPEAKER ON SEPTEMBER 5 Carl Romano is coming to share a new video on our children’s hospitals project.

DISTRICT CONVENTION Sharon and Lisa attended the convention on August 17. Lisa went to workshops dealing with K-Kids. Sharon attended fundraising and small club building. We found there was a nice group of people in every workshop we attended. If you get a chance to attend a Kiwanis workshop, we hope that you will.

K-KIDS The program is in the planning stages with Lisa as our Kiwanis contact. We have talked with the principal at Will L. Lee Elementary School. On Friday, Linda Sprau agreed to be our staff contact. She is Greg’s wife. He used to be in our club prior to their move. Now we are ready to proceed with the next steps. Stay tuned to our progress.

OBJECTIVES OF K-KIDS
· To provide opportunities for working together in service to school and
community
· To develop leadership potential
· To foster the development of strong moral character
· To encourage loyalty to school, community and nation

OFFICER INSTALLATION Gerry Tretheway, our new lieutenant governor will be with us on September 26 to install the new officers. If you are an officer or on the board of directors, please try to be present that day.

APPLE PIE SALE November 9 is our day to make pies. We will be using the Richmond Middle School cafeteria that day. Please set aside the day to help and invite your friends. We will have order forms ready at the first meeting in October.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
Think of at least one small pursuit that makes you smile, lightens your load, refreshes your spirit. Why not do it today? -Thomas Kinkade
