NEW MEMBER We welcome Kelley Osterman to Kiwanis! She is the Parks and
Recreation Director at the City of Richmond. Her dedication to children is
already at work. Hopefully, we can support her efforts and blend our service to
this community.
DIVISION 3 MEETING We had nice representation for a Saturday morning! Thanks to Jason Rewalt, Becky Jagoda, Dwight Thabet, John and Sharon Hiller for attending the meeting at MacDonald. There were inter clubs from Utica/Shelby, Romeo, and Clinton Valley, along with people from Port Huron and Sterling Heights. We went over upcoming dates, senior members, and convention. There was a discussion on dues paid annually or semi-annually. The meeting lasted about an hour. We had a tour of the building. Thanks to Rev. Mike Fonfara for allowing us to host the meeting, for his prayers, and his leadership as our Lieutenant Governor for Division 3. BOWL-A-THON The Kiwanis Bowling Party will be on Friday, April 26 at 7:00 PM. Tickets are $10.00. They are available at Verlinde Insurance and Richmond Flower Shop. Please see if you can get a door prize or several to add to the fun. E-mail Bev with people who will be attending. We have about fifty people coming. FREE LUNCH BAGS were made at the last meeting. We will be putting a postcard about Kiwanis inside. These will be handed out at the Bowl-a-thon and perhaps at the Prayer Luncheon if we have some left. NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER LUNCHEON We will have a prayer time outside of City Hall on May 2nd at 12:20. Following the prayer for our leaders, our club will host a pizza lunch for all who come inside City Hall. Kelley has paper products and pop. John will bring ice. Who are you bringing as a guest to learn about Kiwanis? BICYCLE RODEO Hope you have May 18th on your calendar. We need your help to give out helmets that day starting at 10:00 with set-up prior. Jason and Jason are working on the ads. Dennis has ordered helmets. Kelley has arranged for Safety Town from East Pointe. There will be fingerprinting, the smoke trailers, a waterball fight, the canine unit, and refreshments for sale. She is looking into getting a bicycle safety booklet and having a helicopter come. She has a bicycle to give away. Since one other was donated, we may not purchase one this year. ELECTION OF OFFICERS will be held on May 16. The nominations committee has been hard at work. I passed around the corner and someone saw my grin, When he smiled I realized I?d passed it on to him. I thought about that smile, then I realized its worth, A single smile, just like mine could travel round the earth. So, if you feel a smile begin, don?t leave it undetected Let?s start an epidemic quick, and get the world infected! -Source Unknown Past Newsletters
