News From Chrysler
The most exciting new car at Chrysler is a special edition of the
300M, creatively called the 300M Special. Available midway through the
model year, the Special has xenon headlamps, dark-gray lower-body cladding, a
higher-output version of the 3.5-liter V-6 (making all of five more horsepower),
a higher final-drive ratio, and 18-inch wheels. All 300Ms get a new grille. The
full-size Concorde, which shares its chassis with the 300M, is unchanged.
The Sebring sedan and the Mitsubishi-designed Sebring coupe,
introduced last year, are unchanged for 2002. The Sebring convertible can
be ordered with the new GTC package, which includes a trunklid spoiler and "Euro
sport" suspension tuning. A turbocharged version and a convertible PT Cruiser
might make it to production — just not this year. Chrysler has reconfigured the
options packages on the standard Cruiser and offers flame-job decals for the
hood and flanks. The Prowler (formerly a Plymouth) comes in a new color,
Inca Gold. Hey, that's big news to Prowler people. Chrysler has added new
features to its two minivans, the low-cost Voyager and the high-zoot
Town & Country, including adjustable pedals and a DVD entertainment system.
Lastly, the LHS is dead.
